Surprised that it is mostly made of real wood. It wasn’t hard to assemble and only took a couple hours. Was missing some of the shingles though. And one of the “walls” had the holes drilled wrong but we were able to fix that.Overall, I am happy with this bunk bed. The instructions were a challenge and I had to disassemble sections a couple times as board labeling wasn’t very good. There was no “how-to” instruction, just drawings of how it goes together. You definitely need two people to assemble. But once completed, it’s very solid and sturdy. The ladder can be used on the side or at the head/foot. My granddaughter is very happy with her new house bed.I know IKEA directions get a lot of flack, but nothing compares to the mess of these directions. Read twice through before you touch the kit. Also be prepared to drill pilot holes in a few pieces that were missed during pre-fabbing.There was one piece of missing hardware. I was able to replace it from my own supply but it made me paranoid as I went through. I wish I’d counted thoroughly before starting assembly.The wood quality left something to be desired, and that’s accounting for the fact that most of this was pressed board. Take it very slow and be prepared to drill above or below a hole where a split occurs. I had to do that for two separate places.You ***will*** need two people for assembly, and at least three hours. Don’t try to short yourself. Put on some chill music and buckle in. You’ll be at this for a while.Once it’s assembled, it’s sturdy. And outside of the two places where I had to redrill, it looks nice. Might update review depending on how it holds up to the antics of a hyper preschooler.We love this little house! We are in a transition to a new city/apartment and everything… and off course my boys needed this motivation to sleep and play in their new room.It took a good amount of time to build it but my husband did it with no help. It also came a lot sooner than expected and in only one shipment.We are very happy with this house-bed!It was easy to put together, because every piece was labeled and the instructions were not difficult to follow. The material for the bed is heavy and durable. The quality made us confident that it would be safe for our little one even with us assembling it ourselves.This bed is extremely cheap. Most of the pieces came cracked deeply already upon just removing them from the box. All the shingles are scrapped up horrible and made from a cheap particle board ontop of the fact they didn’t send me enough to finish the bed or enough hardware! I spent $550 after shipping for this thing and we had no choice t but to keep putting it up as we had gotten rid of my daughters other bed the day this arrived not realizing how horribly made this was going to be I’d honestly return the end tire thing if it wasn’t a huge pain.
