First review: My son was really looking forward to this loft bed, but when it arrived, we were missing an entire box (we only received 2 out of 3) so we could not assemble it. We could not find contact information for the seller (according to Amazon, it's Orient Life), so we are at the mercy of their messaging system through Amazon. Very frustrating.Update: The seller contacted us via Amazon within 24 hours and somehow tracked down that the third box was still on its way (that was not apparent to us through the Fed Ex tracking system). It arrived 24 hours after the first box. My son (who builds a LOT of legos) spent the day putting it together with us checking in frequently - directions were clear enough for an 11 year old to follow. All parts were there, and only a few boards showed signs of wear or cracking or warping, but after we secured it to the wall, it seems quite sturdy. Would strongly recommend a maximum of 5" mattress - he originally had a 10" mattress and didn't feel safe enough to sleep on it the first night. With the 5" mattress, he feels just fine. There's plenty of desk room to hold his computer and also make a lego building station. So far, so good after that original shipping snafu.I do not use this item to sleep on! I'm just using it as a computer desk thankfully for the quality I got. It was easy enough to assemble from looking at the two, yes two, exact same instruction booklets it came with. Although the quality of the wood is a bit less than I would expect- I did not use a drill at all and only used an Alan wrench and screwdriver, and the wood splintered and cracked easily. In one instance a whole corner broke off but I was able to glue it back together and thankfully wasn't a supporting/important joint. The bed can hold my weight, the ladder can hold my weight (~180lbs) but the entire structure is wobbly and makes me nervous to climb on. The shelving unit on the right side of the build is not flush at all and turned out very crooked. I will need to get some long L brackets to actually support the shelves because with the crookedness, the tiny plastic brackets it came with isn't enough support and the shelves can easily be knocked down. It's good enough for what I bought it for- simply a computer desk- but I would absolutely not recommend for sleeping accommodations.Need two people to complete the build of the loft portion of the bed. The rest can be completed by anyone who can follow directions. I had some issues with the bed but the customer service department was amazing and resolved the issues kindly and promptly.Great bed - got it two years ago and my now 9-y-o still loves it. Took a half day to assemble (mostly with one person). We just had to partially disassemble to move to a different bedroom, and that took only a couple hours.We can't finish the assembly because we're missing the 30mm bolts labeled 7. Had to skip part of step 8 and cannot move past step 11 due to this lack of hardware. We're also missing the mattress supports labeled X1. It's not in either box. Another thing, I am reading that most other buyers received 3 boxes, but we received only 2. The boxes are labeled 1 of 2 and 2 of 2, it is possible that the packaging was updated to only need 2 containers. I've contacted the seller and am awaiting response.Overall the bed is very easy to assemble, it looks lovely, and I am still excited and hopeful that my daughter will get to use her bed sometime soon. For the moment, though, she's got nowhere to sleep.Update: the seller is extremely responsive! Responded same day I contacted them. They've reshipped the entire hardware packet required for assembly. I can move on a little further, but still have not received the mattress support slats that are supposed to be included. I've reached out again and await their response. 1 star increased to 2.Edited: the seller resent the entire box of pieces to replace the support slats, X1. The box arrived 1 day after the hardware and the bed will be completed today. Updated review to 5 stars. I would recommend them, if you have a problem they're extremely responsive and they've made it right for me without further charge.If your spouse knows anything about carpentry, don't buy this.. he WILL complain. This bed is flimsy and not well sturdy. My husband has to build his own shelves for it because they made them too small. Like, they are about to fall off. It's ridiculous.Love the bed. It's not perfect, but for the price, you can't beat it. With any loft bed, anchor it to the wall, IN A STUD. I personally don't trust the strength of drywall or plaster with anything more than hanging a picture. I built two cleats, (simple plywood), anchored those to studs, and anchored the bed to the cleats, as you'll never perfectly align the bed posts with studs. (see pics) Bed is sturdy on its own as well. Good quality, great instructions with very clear labeling. Few minor fit & finish issues (see pictures) but nothing I didn't deem acceptable for the price point. Would buy again without hesitation. EDIT: The picture shows the bed with a BedInABox Original twin mattress.It looks good and the bedding itself feels ok but not as sturdy as I would like it to be. For the price of what we paid for it I think they could have done a little better quality material. The desk and shelvings are basically veneered paper and God forbid you spill anything on it... it being a kids bed we're talking more like when instead of if. The bed itself is wood but you can tell its Chinese cheap stuff... would probably need to reinforce it with 2x4's or some L shape metal brackets in the near future.
