Like others have said, leave the fasteners barely screwed in, not barely loosened. The whole thing takes a while to put together even if you’re experienced. With a short break, it took me 2.5 hours. I stripped out the supplied 4mm Allen wrench during the final tightening and used my own folding key set. However this doesn’t fit between many of the tight spaces, so I recommend a ball-tip T-Handle 4mm that you can buy right here on Amazon.I don’t recommend a power drill - it would be too easy to strip the fasteners.I was worried about rattles and squeaks but it DOESN’T SQEAK OR RATTLE if the fasteners are all VERY tight. Some of the screw holes had a little paint or debris in them which makes tightening more difficult - just power through and you’ll drive it all the way in.Overall I’m very, very pleased with the product and will recommend to others.I got the loft bed, size full. Four stars only because I haven't used it, so I can't judge. Five stars for the design and the assembly instructions. It came in one big carton as described. The carton had two corners accordion crushed and a 4-inch triangular puncture in the middle. It's a long trip from China. By luck and protective packaging inside, nothing was damaged.About assembly. On day one I spent 90 minutes de-packaging and checking contents. Nothing was missing, and the fastenings included a small bag of extras just in case. Day two was 5 hours, single-handed at my elderly leisure, to do the whole assembly. I used stacked plastic boxes to hold up the far ends of long parts. Some observations:Each part has a sticker with its letter. Be careful that the real parts in front of you match exactly the parts in the drawings -- and that you have them in the position or orientation relative to the other parts as shown in the drawings.Nearly every part is unique. Study the locations of the pre-drilled threaded bolt holes shown in the drawings and locate and count the holes on the real part. In one drawing a hand points at the single small hole on one part, to be sure you don't miss it.Do a complete loose-bolts first assembly, and only afterward go around tightening. This is so important that the instructions say Please. Turn bolts only with fingers, and no more than halfway in. The whole structure has to stay floppy and loose-jointed so you can move the parts a little to line them up for the bolts to "find" the threads in the holes. All my threads and bolts were perfectly made. Even so, at the last step, the ladder, I had to back off some prior bolts to move the parts enough for the rungs to line up with the holes they go in.Regarding the slats. As someone has mentioned, don't push them to one end, hold them midway between ends and they will rotate down into their slots. The plastic collars snap easily onto the slats. The plastic spacers with jaws on each end that snap onto to the collars are too robust for elderly hands. I used channel-lock pliers. The spacers are just robust enough to be partly crushed onto the collar and then popped into place with a soft fist bump. How the bed would work in use, I don't know. I bought it to serve as a garage for the twin size air bed I will use in the lower space. The loft bed will support soundproofing materials around me and over my head.I can say that having had time to appreciate the design engineers' work, I enjoy the neat way they put things together and made it all so assembler-friendly. In my opinion it's also very visually attractive. Well done!I’m going to try to include a very thorough review. I purchased this in early February and I’ve now been sleeping on it for over a month. It arrived earlier than the earliest expected shipping date, which was wonderful. It came in a box around 7 feet long and over a foot wide by less than a foot deep. Quite heavy and because of how long it is, I don’t recommend trying to slug it inside alone. I’m fairly fit but I’m also 5’4” so trying to manhandle a box this size alone would not have been great.Once opened, the contents are all labelled very clearly. The instruction book is clear enough to get the loft assembled, although one issue I encountered is that in the earlier parts of the instructions, some parts are depicted in the pictures that don’t get attached until later steps. I would say glance through the whole book first to have a sense of what goes on when. I had my father helping me assemble this, and after glancing through, we could mostly operate without it. It served to reference which screws we used at which times. The hardware pack comes separated and labelled, however do not peel the whole backing off. The parts are labelled on the front side of the backing so if it is torn off in pieces, you won’t be able to tell which pieces are what. The instruction pictures don’t 100% clearly depict the screw lengths beyond what letter they are labelled as and a couple of the sizes are very similar.Having a second person was the easiest way to assemble this. If I had been one person, it would have been a great deal tougher. Even just having a second person who can hold the structure up so it can be assembled upright made this far easier than any alternative.Getting into the actual building, it took my father and I a bit over 2 hours, we used power tools and not the hand tools the hardware comes with. Regardless of whether or not you have power tools, do not tighten things up until the end of assembly. There were a couple times my father and I had to go back and loosen something a bit so we could get the holes of another area to line up. All the pieces are made to fit exactly, so when one area receives tension before another, it alters the shape just enough to throw off alignment. This is normal for tubular metal. It does not mean there is a defect. We built this in a 10x10 bedroom with some furniture all pushed to one side giving us a 7x10 workspace or so. It was a bit to maneuver sometimes, I would say this is the smallest floor space one can build this in. Any smaller and we might not have been able to move ourselves and the pieces as needed. Now that is is together, its wonderful. It does wobble, but tubular metal naturally has give to it. Its not a scary amount of shaking so long as one doesn’t try to move too fast. I’ve been on it over a month now and its quite comfortable. The bar supports are nice but I do have a thin plywood sheet on top to go directly under my bed. I have a memory foam mattress and didn’t want to risk the bars creating strange indents. For a regular spring mattress, they’re probably just fine. The rungs do hurt my feet a small bit but not enough to warrant needing to cover them, and my boyfriend feels the same way.I weigh something like 150 pounds and my boyfriend weighs something like 170 and we can both comfortably sleep on this bed. It doesn’t feel like it will collapse under us, nor does it shake too much.My apartment is less than 250 square feet and this loft has helped dramatically with increasing space. I keep my hope chest, dresser, and clothes divider hamper underneath it. I do have to duck under it and I’m 5’4”, its around 5’ clearance. I could see having a desk or chair underneath this and working out well, which was my original plan. All in all, for $200, this is an excellent purchase.I may attach some pictures at some point.Love this bed for our daughter and she loves it. It is very sturdy and safe.I bought this for my tiny 3rd bedroom. It was bought with the intention of being a kids bed and that’s about all it would ever be used for. That said anyone over 40 or over 200lbs…. Oh heck no!!! It’s way too hard to climb up and wobbly. I mean it sways like a sky scraper!!!!! This bed was relatively easy to assemble and it took my boyfriend and I about an hour and a half. If u have a power tool with a hex key adapter I highly recommend it. As everyone said assemble it loose at first and go back and tighten when complete that truly made our lives much easier. Overall, for $240ish I think it will be more than sufficient for the little ones when they stay the night. Plus they think the big high bed is super cool!!!Bed arrived after about 4 weeks. It was very easy to assemble. Most of the load is borne by screws which I find troubling.Despite this it does seem to be quite sturdy.I am an adult, 30yr old woman. I have a very small bachelor suite. This bed replaced a large log bed that took up most of the room in my small one room apartment. The new bed does a fantastic job of making the most of a small space.I am 5ft5 and the bottom of the bunk is at my forehead when I'm standing beside it. I can sit at my desk underneath it and still have lots of room above my head.Cons:The railing is not very tall. My mattress is a full sized mattress with a 4" gel memory foam addition on top of it. Because of this the railing only serves to keep my mattress in place as it doesn't reach above the mattress sides. So I have had to line the bunk with pillows along the walls. It rocks. It rocks so much. When I climb the ladder, despite the rocking, it's feet stay on the floor. I am going to find a way to brace it to the wall to help illeviate the shaking. The ladder. I hate the ladder. One side of it is also the right headboard leg of the bed so I literally have to sit on my pillow to get out of bed. And the ladder is flush to the side which makes it a greater challenge since I am so close to the ceiling because of the added height from the mattress. What I'm going to do about these issues:There isn't much I can do about only being held up by screws but pray. For the rocking, I'm going to try to bracket the bed to the wall.I will probably use a different ladder.I am also going to put plywood underneath the mattress and opt for a 6" mattress instead of a 12".I'm going to install plug and play 4ft LED shop lights underneath the bed. As well as maybe a motion sensor bar light for the ladder.I've slept on it for two nights now. Other than the problem of getting the dog on and off, it's a great bed. I have a lot more space now. I do feel safe sleeping on it once I got used to the rocking.I will update this if something happens, because of the weight difference between an adult instead of a child I will definitely update this if I fall through it.I'm pretty sure it's rated to 250lbs, I bring 140 with the added weight of my dog. Not including the weight of the mattress.I do not recommend anyone purchase this item. It is poorly designed and made with the cheapest materials possible. Amazon actually refunded me for the purchase, and I ended up throwing it out. Below is a list of reasons why you should not buy this item.1) The material is extremely flimsy. It's extremely thin tubing of some alloy. It came bent and dented right out of the box. If you grip the posts hard enough, you will be able to dent it. Looking at the parts wrong will cause them to deform.2) The holes for putting this together are stamped out. The excess cut metal to make these holes is left in the tube and rattles around. I attempted to remove most of the metal, but I wasn't able to get all of it.3) The design incorporates angled holes - meaning you have to drive these screws and bolts at a weird angle not perpendicular to the tubing. This is extremely challenging and borderline impossible if you're just using the hex key it comes with. You're also not able to tighten these bolts enough as the head of screw comes in at an angle and does not make full contact with the face of the tubing (because you're driving the screw at an angle). This is just poor design. If you still want to buy this bed, I suggest you re-drill all the holes from the start.4) Mine came with misaligned holes! To make sure I wasn't losing my mind, I lined up the tubes that were supposed to fit and measured it out. Without re-drilling, it would have been impossible for me to assemble this, but I bought this because I didn't want to make one my own. Weirdly enough, there were also extra holes in the material that were not in the instructions. It felt like a practical joke.5) The slats are held in place with these pin-like plastic fasteners. It's hard to assemble and dissemble them because they're put in by force like pins.6) The ladder is uncomfortable to climb on because the tubing is so thin, it's like stepping on a sharp rock. You can even see one of the other reviewers put pool noodles on the ladder to make it more comfortable.Overall, I don't know why anyone would purchase this. At 300$, I thought I was going to get a sturdy metal loft bed. I was comparing it to the Ikea wooden loft bed (also 300$) which I had previously owned. I thought this would be an upgrade. They cheaped out in every possible way - no threaded connections, thin gauge material, stamped angled holes, no care in packaging as it came dented and twisted.Don't make the mistake I did by buying this bed.Omg was that a rat . Oh no maybe 2 rats .Nope its this squeaky squeaky bed .It shakes , it moves it even makes noise its the new loft bed guaranteed to drive you insane .Looks pretty and was easy to assemble but my God my brain is gonna explode if I have to hear this bed squeak for another hour while my kid is try to settle down and go to sleep .On refait la chambre de mon garçon de 11ans et cest tellement petit que les seules option étaient le lit mezzanine et enlever le garde robe finalement on a tout arracher et on refait la chambre tranquillement le lit est génial et de très bonne qualité mon garçon l'adore et on part de ça pour la déco industrielle !This was a 3hr, 2 person nightmare to assemble. And it is HUGE. Make sure you understand the dimensions and the size of room it's going in.It's going to be sold with the house one day because there is no way I'm moving this monstrosity.
