I ordered this bed for my 14 year old son. He preferred this one over all the other choices. It required delivery by a specialty shipper, who it turned out couldn't reach me because they were using an old phone number (I have since updated the one Amazon has for me). This thing is HEAVY. And, it came in two very large packages. We had all the hardware and the directions were actually fairly easy to follow. They would have been easier if each piece labeled something like "top" attached to another piece that was labeled "top." The two side pieces, for instance, are labeled "left" and "right." My son and I are both left handed, so we weren't sure which side of the bed we were expected to be looking at when putting these pieces on (it turns out that the illustrations in the instructions show the BACK side facing you, not the front as in the photo on the front). We had to switch the side pieces because we were putting them on backward. Then, when putting on the side rails, it became clear that these pieces were NOT symmetrical and we had to flip them around. Then when putting on the crossbrace piece it turned out the screw holes were supposed to face the outside so we had to flip that around. Then, once the EXTREMELY HEAVY desktop was installed (we had to get help from my 11-year-old competitive gymnast to hold it, as well as a chair with a stack of books on it), it turned out the small crossbrace piece (visible on the left side of the desk in the photo) required us to unscrew one of the big crossbrace pieces and the 11-year-old had to come back and push up the desktop again!(I know, I should write comedy. The truth is that my life kind of IS one!)Anyway, it took us about an hour to get the thing out of the boxes, followed by about 3.5 hours for son and me to put it together even with all the mishaps. It feels very sturdy now that everything is attached. I have a small battery-powered screwdriver that has allen wrench bits and we used it extensively putting this bed together. Still, my wrists and hands are sore and so is my lower back from holding up the desktop while son put the screws into it.It's a nice size and son is sleeping in it now. So, all's well that ends well.Likes: well designed and well-made. Very sturdy. Good value.Dislikes: the instructions are extremely poor. I have significant experience putting together furniture from places like IKEA etc. The instructions that come with those are very clear and points out slight differences in parts that need to be taken into account. These instructions are very poorly done. I would recommend spending some time looking at the instructions and looking at the pieces, especially to make sure that the bedframe is turned correctly relative to the supports, otherwise you would have to start from scratch. It took my brother-in-law and I 3 1/2 hours to assemble this.We got this for our teenager to do a room makeover last year for Christmas. There aren't a lot of loft beds out there that will hold a full-size mattress, and this looked like the best one from a limited set of options. It arrived with one large piece welded together wrong and it took almost two months and filing a complaint through Amazon before Furniture Creations shipped the replacement part, but once we got the piece, the bed went together fairly easily and our teen loves it. It's rock-solid, super sturdy, looks nice, and has a nice-sized work area underneath. We've had the bed about 7 months and it's as sturdy as the day we built it. I highly recommend the bed. The seller, not so much. This doesn't ship on your normal FedEx/UPS parcel shipping truck. It comes via semi from a freight hauling company. If you live in a rural area with a lot of small, winding roads, delivery may be problematic. We coordinated directly with the shipping company to meet them in town and then strapped the boxes to the top of our van to get them home.Bought the bed for my 10 year old so that he could have more of a "teen" room; well he loves it. The desk is very large (pic does not do it justice) and sturdy and it reclaims so much space in his room. It took about 3 hours to assemble - would have been two had we not put the base on backwards. Be sure to look for all stickers, all screw holes and the pictures BEFORE screwing anything together. We read the warnings and still made the mistake. Also, you need 2 people to assemble the bed. It is quite sturdy. I would also recommend not installing the railing on the side with the ladder. That will make it easier to enter and exit the bed. I am not worried about my son falling out. The only con is that it is very dark under the bed so be sure you have a power source for light. Overall, a great buy. We received it about 6 days after the order, with free shipping. We had to pay the shipper $80 to carry it upstairs as the free shipping only got it to the porch. After dealing with poorly tapped screw holes, terrible directions, stripped cheap bolts (though stripping was due to the terrible tapping...), and several trips to the hardware store (tapped my own holes and used sheet metal screws), it looks great! My ten year old daughter loves it, she can sit up in it and is probably still 6 inches from hitting our 8-foot ceiling. Speaking of 8-foot ceiling, I thought I was being smart as I was installing it on my own and laid one of the side frames flat and screwed in the bed frame vertically.... well, bolts stripped and I could not get them out, it needed more than 8-feet of clearance to get upright, luckily, the short side only needed a little more than 8 feet so a slightly scarred ceiling and it was up.... though I'm probably going to need a blow torch to disassemble it one day....Just pay CLOSE attention to the diagrams such as which direction certain pieces should go depending on the holes and you should be OK. Two people installation is highly suggested. Once together, the bed is great, sturdy, very large desk, and like I said, and most importantly, my daughter loves it!
