We bought this bed for our 7 yr old. It's lower than a traditional loft bed, allowing him to sit up in bed. The steps are a nice touch so he doesn't have to climb a ladder, but they take up quite a bit of extra space. The kiddo loves the space underneath and uses it for a fort/reading nook.As for the 600 lb weight limit...I'm highly skeptical. Maybe 600 lbs of perfectly spaced, non-moving weight. This thing moves. Whether it's the 60 lb kid or my 250 lb husband on it, the bed is swaying and shaking with every little movement. There's no way I'd put 2 adults up there.As for assembly, it's tedious and the instructions are fine so long as a) you've got excellent eyesight, b) none of the little number stickers have fallen off the pieces, and c) you have a t-handle hex set and an electric screwdriver with hex attachments. We were missing a piece and the company was very responsive, sending a replacement box quickly. Now we've got a pile of painted wood with lots of pre-drilled holes.
