The holes for the screws were not molded so the screws definitely require a drill. You cannot hand tighten with an Allen wrench! Some pieces are dull and already scratched. My daughters $500 bed from Ashley furniture was way better. The picture of the screw on the ladder is as far as I can get it in with the actual drill. Horrible.
